Economist: SFI-style agent-based models lack data grounding and top-journal traction
gleech · x · 2026-11-01
Economist Andrey Fradkin (retweeted by gleech) criticizes SFI-style agent-based models: substantively, they suffer from an 'anything goes' syndrome, and their users have rarely tried to seriously confront them with data, so their results aren't convincing; practically, there are essentially no SFI-style models in top economics journals or in policy discourse. A substantive critique of the ABM approach to studying AI and economic systems.
