An unverified scoop (The Information, via jingyanghk) claims that after Anthropic intensified its crackdown on distillation, both Moonshot and DeepSeek distilled OpenAI's Astra while developing their latest models, Kimi K3.1 and V4.1-Flash 1017.
Peter Wildeford argues Anthropic's measures worked and pushed Chinese distillers toward OpenAI; he says OpenAI should adopt similar measures and that this could become the basis for government standards for the industry.
