OpenAI to train on previously off-limits Daybreak Blue session data, even with training off
The Decoder · rss · 2026-11-01
Starting November 29, OpenAI will use Daybreak Blue cybersecurity session data to train its models, even for users who opted out of training. After backlash, a follow-up email promised a separate opt-out.
The move reopens concerns from the earlier dispute with mathematicians who suspected OpenAI used their unpublished research for training without consent, and highlights ambiguity around user data consent mechanisms.
