NASA JPL stress-tests CXMT memory down to -100°C, unit stays online

A shared NASA JPL vHALT reliability report (Ghaffarian 2025) on CXMT memory hardware, using step-stress cooling based on physics of failure:
- The unit stayed operational to -65°C; at -75°C it hit kernel paging errors and became unresponsive, but recovered on its own at -45°C.
- At -100°C it was still online yet unresponsive, requiring a power cycle at room temperature to recover.
- Slides also cover the full Class P & MEAL vHALT flow: temperature limits, 200 thermal cycles each at -35/70°C and -40/85°C, ruggedization (fan removal, corner/full filling, heatsink bonding), combined vibe + TC testing, FEA failure analysis, and a Cumulative Damage Index in development.
