Letting an agent pay for and renew its own API access with x402 and a budgeted wallet
Minimum_Hour519 · reddit · 2026-10-31
The author shares a full implementation of an agent that pays for and renews its own API access: a GET endpoint returns an x402 offer ($29/30 days), a CoinPay wallet with per-payment, daily, and total limits settles it, and the Power Key comes back in the same response. Before expiry the agent schedules the next payment and rotates its key itself. Guardrails: budget checked before each settlement, the system never holds the agent wallet signer, and exhausted funds mean the old key simply expires. Workflow, client example, and gateway source are linked.
