OpenAI Cuts Funding Target by $10B to ~$20B as Valuation Slips to $1.25T

Per Bloomberg and FT, OpenAI's fundraising target shrank 33% from $30B to about $20B, while its valuation target fell only 11% from $1.4T to $1.25T. Investors first pushed back on price in late October, then cut commitments, amid an AI stock selloff and rival Anthropic's impending IPO. Even at $1.25T pre-money, OpenAI would be valued 47% above the $852B mark set in March. The pullback coincided with a 3.5% Nasdaq 100 drop, tying OpenAI's private round closely to public-market sentiment on AI spending.
