The internet is just search and action—and agents will make apps obsolete
yunta_tsai · x · 2026-10-31
A bold endgame thesis: the internet was designed for exactly two things—search and action. Humans built thousands of redundant protocols, apps, and interfaces to manually search and act: search and buy products, reply to connections, plan trips, book restaurants.
Once agents can do all of that, those human-facing interfaces lose their reason to exist. People would only interact through their agents and never touch those apps again.
A big-picture argument about the human UI layer being abstracted away in the agent era—with implications for the app economy and agent protocol battlegrounds.
