AI finds drug candidates fast, but slow clinical trials remain the real bottleneck
MaxUnfried · x · 2026-10-31
Former Bausch Health CEO Brent Saunders argues AI makes drug discovery cheaper, but promising candidates can still become expensive failures. With AI generating more candidates, deciding which deserve years of clinical work and serious capital becomes even more valuable. He calls for applying the same ambition to shortening clinical development and regulatory review. Reposter Max Unfried agrees: clinical trial speed is nowhere near exponential.
