Glass waveguide interposer test fails badly: poor reflection, worse TGV, cracked sample
jwt0625 · x · 2026-10-31
jwt0625 shows a glass interposer test vehicle from TU Eindhoven (BGA below, MPO on top) that literally cracked during testing, quipping "how did they blow it up this bad during testing" — glass waveguide reflection isn't great and TGVs are worse. The device ties to the Alomari 2025 paper on standardized glass-based technology for next-gen electronic-photonic systems in package. Glass substrates are a key candidate for next-gen advanced packaging, and this failure hints the technology remains far from mature.
