Recall Labs winds down: board kills agent reputation network and RECALL token
carsonfarmer · x · 2026-10-31
Recall Labs has announced it is shutting down. The board voted to stop development of the Recall Network and the RECALL token and close the company in an orderly fashion.
Key facts:
- Recall launched its testnet in March 2025 to bring trust and reputation to AI agents
- The team tested multiple product directions through 2026 as the AI landscape shifted, but none proved viable enough to justify continued development
- No Labs team or investor tokens have been unlocked; the Recall Foundation made a separate decision of its own
- Former team members published a GitHub index (textileio/team-writing-index) collecting the team's years of writing on ML, decentralization, and AI benchmarking
The shutdown illustrates how fast-moving agent infrastructure startups are being forced to pivot repeatedly as the shape of AI changes.
