Pedro Domingos: incumbents hold data and tacit knowledge, yet disruptors will win
pmddomingos · x · 2026-10-31
Pedro Domingos argues that incumbents have two assets: lots of data, and lots of critical knowledge that lives only in people's heads. If they could convert that tacit knowledge into data, they'd hold the advantage over disruptors — who currently have neither.
But given how incumbents actually operate, he predicts they won't manage that conversion, and disruptors will win anyway.
