Google AI Mode asks users to grade translations they asked it to provide
gaganghotra_ · x · 2026-10-31
A user asked Google AI Mode to translate "Good morning" into Vietnamese, and instead of a straight answer got an A/B preference poll: two nearly identical responses, each padded with lengthy context breakdowns, plus a prompt to vote on which is better "so AI Mode gets better for everyone." The poster's retort: if I already knew which one is better, I wouldn't have asked you. The screenshot makes the feedback-collection loop look especially absurd.
