Ostris open-sources Primal VAE, claims it beats Flux.2's VAE without deep compression

Ostris released Primal VAE, claiming it outperforms Flux.2's VAE. The VAE only does 2x spatial downsampling to 1-2 channels; the DiT's 4x patching makes it effectively 8x/16-channel like modern VAEs, keeping the VAE tiny. Latents are trained to match noise norms, so no scaling/shift factors are needed. Weights are on Hugging Face (ostris/primalvae).
