Per The Globe and Mail, Anthropic is negotiating with Calgary-based Beacon Data Centers to lease a hyperscale campus in Sturgeon County near Edmonton, with four AI data halls powered by a dedicated 920MW natural gas plant. Alberta's Utilities Commission approved the plant on Oct 23; construction starts this quarter with service in late 2027 — roughly double the power of the 420MW Nova Scotia site where Anthropic signed a 20-year lease.
