Letting Claude organize an iPhone Home Screen by color via MCP
BTCLSD · reddit · 2026-10-31
- The author built Thumbwise, a Mac app that reads and rearranges an iPhone Home Screen over USB, with a local MCP server so Claude can do the arranging.
- In the demo, one prompt ("organize my apps by color") had the agent read the layout, pull icons as MCP image content, arrange 30 apps in rainbow order across three pages, and show a diff before applying.
- Safety-first design: MCP tools share the same core and rules as the app UI (no looser agent path), writes require human confirmation with no blind retries, and everything is local-only over a private stdio socket.
- 30 tools cover layouts, app/folder/page moves, plus an optimizer using Screen Time data. Free to arrange, $14.99 to apply; needs Apple silicon, macOS 15+, iOS 27.
