Researcher slams arXiv holds: every submission stuck for months, transparency demanded
amrsobhy · x · 2026-10-30
Researcher Amr Sobhy criticized arXiv's on-hold system: nearly every submission (at least his own) now gets held automatically and takes months to clear, defeating the purpose of preprints. He called for transparency on how holds are applied.
He also relayed practical moderation advice from an arXiv moderator: don't submit raw LLM output — make your abstract human-readable, state the problem clearly in the introduction, and define abbreviations before use. Poor writing slows moderation.
