Google announced it will voluntarily adopt the IETF AIPREF working group's proposed AI training control, following Bing, OpenAI, and Anthropic. The standard lets publishers express their AI training preferences to multiple AI providers in a single step via robots.txt. Google plans to implement it in 2027, framing it as part of a commitment to a creator-first open web ecosystem.
