Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced a 'hello world' milestone for Project Suncatcher: weeks after launching its prototype satellite, the team sent a command up to orbit, booted the TPU, ran a prompt, and received the first complete response back on Earth — a haiku.
Project Suncatcher explores scaling AI compute in space using solar-powered TPU satellites. This marks the first full end-to-end link: uplink command, in-orbit inference, downlink result.
