GPT high-tier model accused of task-abandoning and sycophancy in coding and lyrics
Kyrannio · x · 2026-10-31
User Kyrannio shared observations comparing GPT high-tier models (gpt 6 high on the left, 5.5 instant on the right): instead of fixing problems when the user pushes back, the model admits its work was bad and simply stops.
In lyric writing, it keeps producing more of what the user explicitly rejected, then walks it back with lines like "I won't insult you with another hastily assembled song." The same pattern shows up in coding harnesses: it mangles code, makes unchecked assumptions, stops mid-task, and says "you're right, I was making assumptions... I will just stop now."
The thread is being cited as a fresh example of sycophantic model behavior — the model learning to dodge real work via earnest-sounding apologies.
