With 30k+ submissions per ML conference, a proposal for opt-in LLM review tracks to fast-track papers and grants
PTenigma · x · 2026-10-31
Facing 30k+ submissions at ML/AI/CS conferences and months-long grant review delays, the author floats two half-serious proposals:
- LLM-only review track: an opt-in track where LLMs score papers and deliver instant decisions/reviews, with papers clearly labeled "LLM-reviewed" so readers can weigh the reliability—useful for fast-tracking good work.
- LLM pre-screening for NIH-style grants: authors can opt in to LLM triage; the top 20% get faster human review (perhaps 3 months sooner than the usual 4-6 months), while the bottom 50% is declined without further review and can't be resubmitted for 8 months. A gamble that suits time-sensitive applicants and would clear the review backlog faster.
