NIDO v0.1.64: an open-source AI assistant that runs entirely on your phone
NIDO_007 · reddit · 2026-10-30
NIDO v0.1.64 ships as a free, open-source AI assistant that runs 100% on-device — no account, no cloud, nothing to switch off (early alpha, in Spanish/English/Portuguese).
Key capabilities:
- Chat & models: local models from 0.4GB to 5GB (Qwen, Qwen3, Phi, LFM, Gemma), answers grounded in your documents with sentence-by-sentence provenance, and a hardened PDF reader that caps hostile files.
- Memory & reminders: encrypted local memory with full review/delete, recurring reminders, countdowns, optional 8:00 daily summary.
- Device-to-device messaging: over Bluetooth/local Wi-Fi with fresh per-message keys, post-quantum protection, fixed-size padding, fingerprint-verified contacts, optional disappearing messages, and offline knowledge packs.
- Emergency & first aid: verified emergency numbers for 32 countries with one-tap dialing; first aid answers quoted word-for-word from the official guide so the model can never flip a "no" into a "yes"; carbon monoxide warnings.
- Privacy & control: full device encryption, a hardware vault requiring a backup under 30 days old, a persistent network log auditing every connection, on-device voice recognition, optional wipe, and an eight-rule constitution auto-checked on every change.
