Levie and Mollick: the gap between frontier AI users and everyone else keeps widening
mhmazur · x · 2026-10-30
Box CEO Aaron Levie argues the distance between people working at the AI frontier and everyone else is "almost incomprehensibly" wide — and diverging, not converging. If AI progress had leveled off, everyone could catch up and standardize workflows, neutralizing advantage; instead the curve is going nearly vertical, so processes codified 3-6 months ago are already outdated. Quoting him, Ethan Mollick adds that the gap between what frontier users do with AI and what AI can actually do is growing even wider: "We don't really understand the full capability of today's systems when properly harnessed & applied."
