Anthropic's 335-page S-1 tells investors AGI bets require a leap of faith
The Verge AI · rss · 2026-10-30
Anthropic filed a 335-page S-1 prospectus on Monday, with a letter at the top stating that investing in a technology that could in the worst case "pose catastrophic or existential risks to humanity" and in the best case "bring forth an age of miracles" requires, to some extent, just belief.
The Verge notes this is part of a steady hype escalation in Silicon Valley's interactions with Wall Street — SpaceX's June IPO similarly featured grand narratives in its S-1, and such framing is becoming the norm for AI companies heading to public markets.
