Chat logs may be history's best product research op, paid for by the customers themselves
Creamy-And-Crowded · reddit · 2026-10-30
Users pour pre-startup thinking into chatbots—idea validation, competitor comparisons, pricing debates—and often walk out with v1 of a company sketched inside the conversation. The author's point: this isn't data about what people want, it's data about what people are about to make—"the sentence before the search query" that made Google rich. No evidence anyone at OpenAI/Google/Anthropic is stealing ideas; the boring truth is nobody has to do anything wrong for the structural advantage to exist inside a product we all pay for.
