Taalas' one-LLM-per-chip business questioned as TPU inference speeds close the gap
intellectronica · x · 2026-10-30
Hadi Khan questions chip startup Taalas' business of baking one LLM per chip: 'ultra-high-speed inference' is an offering, not a usecase. In every scenario he can name — computer use, fraud detection, trading — frontier 'System One' models are equally relevant. And since Anthropic's TPU deal, its flagship models went from slowest and priciest to reasonably fast and very usable; TPU speed plus best models seems enough for professional products, leaving little room for dedicated inference silicon.
