Bard: a solo-built podcast player for fiction, flagging and suppressing AI-made shows
shauntrennery · x · 2026-10-30
Bard is a new podcast app dedicated solely to audio fiction — dramas, horror anthologies, sci-fi serials and actual plays — with no chat shows, news or true crime.
Highlights:
- Built solo by librarian Michael Schofield on weekends; discovery recommendations sharpen based on what you play, shelve and rate (genre, tone, game system)
- Boosts new and smaller series over popular shows that don't need the help
- "Verifiably human" policy: AI productions are flagged and suppressed when verifiable
- Free on iOS and web; Android coming later
Its stance against AI-generated audio is a clear differentiator in an increasingly synthetic podcast landscape.
