MalwareTech: AI vulnerability research demand is a honeymoon bubble that will collapse
MalwareTechBlog · x · 2026-10-30
MalwareTechBlog argues AI vuln discovery is riding a honeymoon phase: novelty is drawing money from people who otherwise wouldn't fund frontier models. But outside elite researchers, long-term demand is thin — the only paths are working in vuln research for a security company or doing bug bounty, neither of which covers the cost. Once vanity projects stop funding this, demand will largely collapse, as he doubts companies will pay for endless scanning forever. David Manheim pushed back, asking whether cheaper attacks won't make continuous scanning a durable need.
