Longtime AI skeptic: at $20/month LLMs are already more useful than Netflix
CLXXXVI · reddit · 2026-10-30
A longtime AI skeptic in the Ed Zitron mold ("where's the revenue?") describes his shifting view after an ordinary day of use: ChatGPT estimated a meal's calories and suggested nutritional improvements within his cuisine, coached him through recording and stitching work videos, and scoured local meditation retreat centres around his existing schedule—surfacing opportunities Google never showed, one of which he booked.
His takeaway: beyond programming, LLMs now have an obvious, common, consistent use case, and at $10–20/month most people should want them—"more useful than Netflix." Yet he wonders why current numbers don't reflect that, and admits he may be in a bubble.
