Python core dev ships whatsnewt, a TUI text adventure to learn 3.15 features by coding
tdhopper · x · 2026-10-30
To celebrate Python 3.15, core developer Barry Warsaw built whatsnewt, a TUI text adventure where you wake up in the Startup Foyer and solve 18 puzzles to reach the Release Gate — every puzzle is a real 3.15 feature you must actually use by writing and running code in a 3.15 interpreter, with type-checker puzzles verified by pyrefly.
Play it with one command: uvx --python 3.15 whatsnewt. Easter eggs included. It's being praised as a clever way to teach a new release.
