Anthropic's IPO Filing Flags U.S. Immigration Curbs as a Top AI Growth Risk

Anthropic's IPO filing (SEC disclosure) lists U.S. restrictions on legal high-skilled immigration among its biggest risks to growth: policy changes that restrain the flow of professional and technical talent "may inhibit our ability to recruit and retain highly qualified employees," adversely affecting the business.
Economists Jason He and Sarah Eckhardt made the same argument in April: U.S. AI dominance relies heavily on immigrant engineers and founders — an estimated 50,000–200,000 U.S. AI jobs, with nearly a thousand 2024 H-1B recipients in AI-related occupations — while China's State Council "AI+" initiative expands its talent pool via equity incentives and a new visa for foreign STEM graduates. As the U.S. tightens H-1B and OPT, they argue, America risks ceding its AI talent edge to China.
