Higgsfield sends cease-and-desist to ComfyUI over Open Source challenge, demands takedown in 48 hours

ComfyUI posted on r/StableDiffusion that Higgsfield has sent a cease-and-desist demanding the 'Open Source Higgsfield' challenge be taken down within 48 hours, arguing the use of the Higgsfield name and CEO Alex Mashrabov's likeness implies false affiliation.
The challenge was launched after Higgsfield promised to open source its product but never did; for two weeks builders have been recreating popular closed apps as open workflows. ComfyUI says the event is clearly labeled as unaffiliated with Higgsfield and refuses to take it down.
The attached legal letter, dated October 28, 2026 from Higgsfield's Associate General Counsel, alleges trademark infringement over the use of 'HIGGSFIELD' in the competition's title, URL, hashtag, and dev-night event names.
