OpenRouter's new router: ~20% faster TTFT, ~60% fewer rate-limit errors for open-weight models
AccBalanced · x · 2026-10-30
OpenRouter shipped its biggest provider-routing upgrade since founding. Instead of prioritizing by price, the new router rewards the best inference quality for actual cost: early results show 20% faster time-to-first-token, 20% higher throughput, 40% fewer fallbacks, and 60% fewer rate-limit errors, materially raising the floor for open-weight model inference.
