EpicWorldModel: stochastic latent world model uses future disagreement as exploration bonus
Majumdar_Ani · x · 2026-10-30
To be presented at NeurIPS 2026, EpicWorldModel tackles a limitation of latent world models like JEPA, which commit to a single deterministic future by design and struggle when the goal is out of sight.
The approach: a stochastic latent world model samples many possible futures and uses their disagreement as an exploration bonus in planning — exploring where futures diverge, and committing once the goal comes into view.
