Google's John Mueller: systems will eventually catch AI spam tactics like mass listicles
OnlineInference · x · 2026-10-30
In an interview with David Iwanow, Google's John Mueller addressed AI-generated content and the future of SEO. Listicles aren't inherently spam, he said, but relying on thousands of them as an entire content strategy is risky — tactics that work initially will eventually be recognized and discounted by search and AI systems. He advises building a solid long-term foundation instead of shortcuts. The interview also covered technical SEO, crawl stats, redirect chains and ecommerce product data.
