Databricks lakehouse expansion faces uphill battle in security and observability, analyst argues

An industry analyst pushes back on the Databricks pitch of unifying security telemetry, observability and business data on one lakehouse: a dozen vendors have done this for a decade, most of that data is just EDR logs, competitors offer all-you-can-eat security consolidation deals, and SREs don't care about Unity Catalog. Doable, he says, but an attrition battle with massive R&D costs against customers stuck in the 1990s.
