AI collapsing attack costs may unleash 'burn it all down' threat actors, security researchers warn
harris_edouard · x · 2026-10-30
Quoting MalwareTech: threat actors are best understood as businesses with well-defined processes — like a bakery not pivoting to dog food, phishing/ClickFix crews won't drop everything to vibecode exploits just because a critical CVE drops. Only actors whose MO is exploiting things exploit things, and that's predictable.
harrisedouard pushes back with an important caveat: historically the skill/resource cost enforced a baseline of sanity, but as AI drives that cost curve way down, we may eventually enable threat actors who simply want to see the world burn.
