Phonic-1 tops Artificial Analysis speech-to-speech index, first non-big-lab model to do so
graceisford · x · 2026-10-30
Phonic launched Phonic-1, claiming the top spot on the Artificial Analysis Speech-to-Speech Index with the highest agentic task success rate at the lowest latency — the first time a model from outside the big labs (OpenAI/xAI/Google) has led the board. The team rebuilt the full stack (data, pretraining, RL, kernels, infra) to preserve vocal cues lost in speech-to-text pipelines. Phonic powers calls across six continents for Ashby, Maven AGI, Rho and a Fortune 50 IT company, and raised a $27.5M Series A led by First Round Capital with Lux, Felicis and Definition.
