DeepMind launches Economics of Intelligence program on how AGI thresholds reshape jobs and wages

Google DeepMind researchers, together with economist Andrew Koh and Shane Legg, released The Economics of Intelligence, the first project in a research program on how AGI will change the economy. They define thresholds of economic capability (e.g., minimal AGI) and track how market structure, employment, and wages shift across capability regimes. A highlighted insight: existing benchmarks only test AI against individuals — a model can beat every person one-on-one yet still lose to a well-structured team.
