Google expands AI-powered Business Profile messaging to more merchants

Per Barry Schwartz at Search Engine Roundtable, Google is rolling out AI-powered messaging in Business Profiles to more businesses. Customers can message merchants from Search and Maps into their phone's native texting app, where an AI agent instantly answers routine questions for free, hands off what it can't answer, and lets merchants take over at any time — with all messages stored in the Business Profile. The feature was first spotted in June, and this is a wider rollout.
