Researcher questions whether short regulatory element design needs an Evo 2 generator
anshulkundaje · x · 2026-10-30
Responding to the Evo 2 genome design work, the author argues that designing short regulatory elements for reporter constructs does not require an Evo 2-style generator, and says he is happy to be convinced otherwise.
He suggests a more interesting target: showing that a long-context Evo 2 generator plus a long-context supervised model could design entire genomic domains to fine-tune in-genome gene expression.
