Banks Shelve $5-7B Junk-Bond Sale for Anthropic-Leased Texas Data Center on Grid Audit

Per Bloomberg, a $5B-$7B junk-bond sale tied to an Anthropic-leased Texas data center has been shelved by Morgan Stanley-led banks. The binding constraint is a state grid audit, not AI demand: Governor Abbott froze new grid connections for data centers pending the audit. Seven banks now hold a $14.2B one-year loan already disbursed, each with roughly $2B at stake.
