LiquidAI ships LFM3 open small models; 2B vision fine-tune spots turbine defects

LiquidAI released the LFM3 family of small open models built for specialization. Exec Parul Pandey recalled being called naive a year ago for predicting customers would fine-tune open models over frontier APIs. As a demo, she fine-tuned LFM3-VL-2B to spot defects in drone photos of wind turbines, with the model correctly identifying the defect alongside GPT-6 Luna.
