Morph and InferenceNet drop optional args in DeepSeek tool calls on OpenRouter
emilahlback · x · 2026-10-29
Testing found that Morph and InferenceNet on OpenRouter drop optional arguments in DeepSeek 1017 tool calls—an optional param can still be essential, so calls can look valid while missing key inputs. The EnergyBench chart shows huge provider variance: InferenceNet FP8 scores 86.9% at $0.187/task, Morph FP8 81.2% at $0.124, Together 80.4% at $0.386, Fireworks 76.3%, Cloudflare 57.6%, and DeepInfra FP8 just 49.7% at $0.103. DeepSeek can near frontier quality with the right harness at a fraction of the cost, but providers vary wildly in quality, speed, and cost, auto-routing hides the problems—benchmark your actual deployment setup.
