EMNLP 2026's main conference admitted only 78 of 1,158 submitted short papers — a brutal 6.7% acceptance rate, per data shared by researcher Nishant Balepur. The screenshots show an overall main-conference rate of 2704/17,666 (15.31%), with 2,626 long papers but just 78 short papers accepted, plus 2,478 papers routed to Findings. Most submissions came from the ARR May 2026 cycle (15,581 long / 1,102 short). Balepur says he'll keep writing short papers because they're more fun, and is glad to be among the 78.
