Pathfinder lands $12M Series A for AI-powered ESA school-choice payments

Pathfinder raised a $12M Series A led by Portage, after Gradient VC and Reach Fund led its pre-seed. The product serves US ESA (Education Savings Account) families:
- Pre-approval tool: snap a photo or paste a link to instantly check if a purchase is ESA-allowable, avoiding clawbacks.
- Pathfinder Card: 0% interest, no annual fees, letting parents pay directly for ESA items without out-of-pocket spend.
- Reimbursement workflow: the app generates curricula and tells parents exactly what to upload; supports splitting expenses across multiple kids.
Founder Aman Ahmad came out of the Polaris fellowship; the pitch is giving parents AI tools to organize and pay for the education they believe is best.
