Hyperscalers may cut out neoclouds as financing conditions worsen, analyst warns

Rihard Jarc argues the neocloud business model is in serious question: hyperscalers like Meta and Microsoft are sucking capital out of the market, worsening financing conditions for AI cloud rental companies.
His logic: worse financing means worse rates, forcing neoclouds to raise prices to make the model work — but their clients are mostly hyperscalers and frontier labs. Those customers, if unhappy with pricing, can simply decline offers, raise debt or equity at much lower rates themselves (most are investment-grade), possibly build their own ASICs, and cut out the neoclouds entirely.
