This post links the full Science Works report "The UK Data Centre Pipeline" and its interactive data atlas (authors Henning Zschietzschmann and Will Stone).
Key findings: the UK plans 5.7GW of new data centre capacity by 2030 — three times current stock, requiring a build rate seven times faster than the past five years. Relative growth would outpace the US and EU, but low starting points leave the UK just 7th in Europe on per-capita capacity. The build-out targets AI workloads, depends on a few large projects, mostly remains in planning, and 42% lacks a disclosed tenant. The report suggests expanded Local Development Orders and the NSIP route to speed approvals.
