Altman's 'don't do the deferred life plan' advice strikes a chord about spending your 20s
menhguin · x · 2026-10-29
Sam Altman tweeted "don't do the deferred life plan." Quote-posting it, menhguin said he doesn't even care much about the money or AI part — it's about life: you're only in your 20s once, and you can spend it on work you care about, taking risks, traveling, falling in love, maybe getting married. Then it's gone.
He added that much "this is how being an adult is" advice is really someone else telling you to defer the life you'd want — and too many of his smarter, more competent friends listen to it for far too long.
