Knives Out Director Rian Johnson Launches $12.99 iPhone Camera App Built by Cinematographer Steve Yedlin

Director Rian Johnson badgered his cinematographer Steve Yedlin into building Chromagraph Camera, a $12.99 iPhone still camera app now #1 in the App Store's Photo & Video category.
Key points:
- Not a filter: Chromagraph starts from raw image data and rebuilds the image with its own processing — the same pipeline Yedlin uses on films like the Knives Out movies — bypassing Apple's default look processing entirely.
- Shoot first, see later: Like a film camera, the finished look only appears after processing; adjustments to color, tone, and texture preserve the core look.
- RAW preservation: Full-quality raw files are stored in-app with the look applied live, exportable as JPEG/HEIC.
The app launched Oct 20 and has already iterated to version 1.1.3.
