Why the "human in the loop" can't be removed: a Thomist metaphysics take on AI transformation
curious_vii · x · 2026-10-29
A philosophical argument that desire is relationally mediated: not only can you not literally take "the" human out of the loop — the loop would not exist without a second person who, through direct relationship, invites new proximal goods. Invoking "form follows function" and final/formal causes, the author argues technologists, entrepreneurs and policymakers must take Thomist metaphysics seriously to get through this transformation period. An opinion piece on AI ethics and societal impact.
